 It
is the function of the Mission Committee to provide
opportunities for members and missionaries to impact the world
for Jesus Christ by supporting their spiritual, financial, and
physical needs. The committee serves as a liaison and support
system between the church and its related missionaries, service
organizations, agencies, and associations. This committee has
also been instrumental in providing opportunities for church
members to actively serve in the mission field on short-term
mission trips.
The Mission Committee of First Presbyterian Church is dedicated
to fulfilling Christ’s Great Commission of making disciples of
all nations. One of the ways we accomplish this is by offering
mission trips for our members to go and serve. Others can
support these trips through financial contributions. We also
support the General Mission of PC(USA) and the Presbyterian
Disaster Relief Fund. This fund is available on quick notice to
offer support to victims of disasters such as the September 11,
terrorist attack, as well as famines, civil wars and natural
disasters around the world.
