Now in their fourteenth year, Harmonic Brass returns to York and the Abendmusik Concert Series for a second straight year. These five friends play music so compactly, so intensively, as a pulsating whole, that one hardly thinks about the individual instruments trumpet, horn, trombone or tuba. Whoever hears the inimitable cantabile of HARMONIC BRASS often forgets that originals that were actually written for organ, singer or strings, are the basis for Hans Zellner's and Otto Hornek's arrangements, and embarks on a breathtaking musical dream trip through the centuries. HARMONIC BRASS fly with their audience around the world in a single night, transform spacious Rococo palaces into intimate jazz clubs, and breathe fresh air into numerous churches.

The Chorale is named after the Wheatland Hills neighborhood where Mr. Upton lived in Lancaster at the time the group was formed.

The York area is blessed with an incredible amount of young musical talent. Abendmusik continues to encourage the development of these musicians through the Youth Talent Night Concert and Scholarship program. In addition to showcasing these individuals, for the second year the series will offer scholarships in support of their musical studies. Performers will be selected through an adjudication process, and the top applicants will perform in the concert. The scholarships will be awarded at the end of the concert. This is a concert you don’t want to miss!

The York County Honors Choir was established as part of the York County 250th Anniversary celebration in 1998 and is now in its tenth year. The 125 members of the Honors Choir represent 17 different high schools and are selected by their high school choral directors, voice teachers and church choir directors. The purpose of the Honors Choirs is to celebrate the rich diversity of York County and to bring its citizens together in a common pursuit: to promote York City and County at home and in travel; to provide positive alternative activities for youth; and to serve as a noncompetitive venue for students representing the many school districts throughout York County. Their musicianship has earned them invitations to sing across the state and around the region, including Camden Yards, the National Cathedral, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and the United Nations. They will join us for a special Sunday evening edition of Abendmusik.

Named after a luminous and spectacular star-forming Nebula in our galaxy, ETA-3 is a classical trio comprising American flutist - Emily Thomas, Japanese Pianist - Tomoko Nakayama and Russian Clarinetist - Alexey Gorokholinsky. Formed at The Juilliard School during spring of 2006, ETA-3 strives to communicate the intellectual and emotional elements of life by broadening the audience's perspective through a varied range of repertoire. The Trio was recognized by Juilliard as one of three prominent emerging chamber music groups of 2006 leading to their Alice Tully Hall debut. The inspiration behind the formation of the ETA-3 is the hope that listeners would not only experience the love, beauty, and joy in their playing, but also feel the harmony in their own lives.
